On what was honestly the hottest day of 2021, Lucy and Ian were married at the Islington Town Hall in North London.
For London weddings, I will usually take the couple into the nearest garden square to get some lovely portraits. The first garden square I took them to (before the ceremony) was basically a dust bowl. So we wandered further into Islington and found this gorgeous, sheltered garden. They don’t look like it was boiling hot, do they?! Cool as cucumbers. Not only did I love Lucy’s incredibly chic Shona Joy sheath dress, but Ian looked VERY suave in his cream jacket and crisp white shirt. They looked like they would have been equally at home on the Italian Riviera.
After the portraits we made our way to the Islington Town Hall to meet friends and family, and then we headed in for the ceremony. It was a wonderful, emotional ceremony, even more so because Ian’s parents were watching via Face Time from Australia. Then it was onto the front steps for the obligatory (but always excellent) confetti shot! The reception was held at The Drapers Arms nearby, where champagne was popped and cake was cut. A brilliant day all round.
