Look away now if you don’t want to see (many many) images of a classic British seaside holiday.  😉

We based ourselves in a little hamlet called Uploders, near Bridport.  Mostly, I have to admit, we chose the location because it was close to West Bay, which is where the tv drama Broadchurch was filmed.  Recognise the cliff in the image below?  Yup, slightly morbid, I know.

The view below is over the beach at Burton Bradstock.

We also visited the very charming Lyme Regis.  At low tide…

There is a tiny (and pretty expensive) Marine Aquarium where Max got to hold a starfish.

Hey Scooby-do.

On the wettest day of the week (and boy, did it rain a lot that week), we went to the Sea Life Centre at Weymouth.  Sadly, it wasn’t as covered as I expected so we had a fairly frustrating day dodging the rain drops between the various sections.

We rented a sweet little cottage through a company called Classic Cottages.  I can highly recommend the company and the cottage itself (Celtic Blessing).

The view out of the front door.

The view out of the back door.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the sun finally came out properly so we headed to Weymouth.  It is such a gorgeous place in summer, full of charming restaurants and beautiful boats.

We had the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten at an award winning fish and chip restaurant located just near to this famous bridge. It’s called the Malboro Restaurant.

I did not know that about the Black Death!

Max got to ride a donkey!  Could this be any more traditional?!

I was so impressed with Weymouth beach.  It’s immaculate, with loads of space.  The sea water is so clear.

Aw, bless.  Bit odd though.

If you go to the Sea Life Centre, your ticket includes free entry to the fabulous Sea Life Tower.  The views were astonishing.

We had such a lovely break away from London, and I’m refreshed and raring to go for the rest of the 2013 wedding season.  Please let the weather play ball this weekend in Surrey!

gorgeous! I love the Max's face in the starfish photo. I'm also loving the comment above that says 'I don't know who you are but if you aren't in the photo business you should be', classic!
