I first met Tabby and Carl back in 2008, when I photographed them in Battersea Park. I recall telling them at the time that they better get me to shoot their wedding when it eventually happened. So, here we are, ten years later and I’ve finally got to do it. (I thought it would never happen, ha ha!) As they are both from Norfolk originally, they chose the spectacular Bressingham Hall and High Barn for the wedding. I think it might be my new favourite venue. Not only are the grounds absolutely gorgeous, the barn itself is so pretty and light. Tabby is a huge fan of gardening, so she was in her element.
One of my favourite parts of the day was when the guests were allowed to spend an hour on the nearby carousel. What a wonderful thing to have at a wedding, and I’m really hoping I get to shoot it again.
As much as my style is mostly reportage, I have to say that it makes a huge difference when you already know a couple (or have at least met them prior to the day!). I felt like part of the family and I love these two, they are very special people. It’s not often that guests break into spontaneous applause twice during the ceremony. I think that says an awful lot about Tabby and Carl, and about their bonds with their friends and families. It was a truly brilliant day – a perfect wedding.
I haven’t even mentioned Tabby’s pink hair or her flower crown yet, have I?! Oh, and we had great weather! Told ya, perfect.
How I love the laughing shot of Tabby below …
Fun fact, the carousel was built in 1897 and the horses are all the original ones!
