Magnus is from Norway, and Serena is from Taiwan, so this intimate Langham Hotel wedding was a wonderful clash of cultures. It’s one of the many reasons I love being a London wedding photographer – no two weddings are ever the same! We started the day in Balham, where Serena and her family got into their wedding finery. The couple rented a gorgeous loft style Airbnb apartment for their family to stay in. Once they were ready we travelled via taxi to the Old Marylbone Town Hall in West London. (Fun fact, while we were in the taxi, a David Bowie song played on the radio and the Somalian taxi driver told us that he is Iman’s cousin! Random co-incidence. ;))
After an emotional wedding ceremony at the town hall, and some confetti throwing on the town hall steps (Serena did all the flowers herself on the day, including the gorgeous rose petals for the confetti!), we decamped to the cafe in Regents Park. Here we took all the family portraits and then the couple portraits in the stunning grounds. If you’re considering an October wedding, this set of shots should convince you that the weather can be lovely in October, and the park looked absolutely stunning – there were still roses in bloom! Then it was on to the Langham Hotel where the couple and their guests had their wedding breakfast.
Another random, very London, thing happened – on the way to the Langham, we passed Nigel Slater on Marylebone High Street, so obviously we had to ask for a picture (Serena is a big fan, as am I!). He was as charming and obliging as you’d imagine he would be. All in all, an amazing day.
I love that Magnus’ mum wore a traditional Norwegian outfit for the occasion.
