Rochelle and Simon are a South African couple who have been living in Denmark for three years now (after twelve years in the UK).  I am in awe of Rochelle. Not only is English not her first language, she is now already fluent in Danish, and their boys are being raised to speak three languages too.  Impressive, huh?  I can barely speak English correctly, let alone two other languages.

As well as some more formal family images, I really wanted to try and capture the spirit and details of their family home.  Rochelle trained as an interior stylist when she lived in the UK and it really shows.  The house is full of those quirky fab details that make a home distinctive.  I was in heaven, as you can imagine.

I adore this lamp they have hanging over the kitchen table.  It’s so Danish, isn’t it?

There’s something about this shot that I just love.  Maybe it’s because all four of them are in it, but they’re just getting on with life.

So many Danish homes have these A-frame shapes and it makes for light and airy living spaces.  They live on the coast, so the views from this room are sublime.

You can also see the South African connection in the decor.

How cute is baby Aidan?!

When Josh swung at full pelt in this chair, my heart stopped.  No straps, no safety measures.  You know you’re not in the UK now, eh? 😉

Garlic prawns… *mouth waters*

Find this tea if you can.  It is so delicious.

How gorgeous are these two?  They’ve been married for twelve years and you’d think it was only one, there is so much love between them.

Rochelle has the prettiest china blue eyes.

I also love the chaos of this aerial shot of the kitchen.  A genuine home.

I had to post three of these shots of Aidan, because I couldn’t pick between them.

I love this family dearly, and they were an absolute pleasure to shoot and to spend time with.  Hopefully see you guys soon.

Still to come, a blog post with some images from our day trip to Copenhagen.

You are a class act. Such a wonderful set of portraits and an intimate look into a family's life. I so loved all the little day to day details, the nipper in the bath, the tap running...well just about everything.

These are unlike any family shoot i've ever seen! Absolutely stunning! The attention to detail of the around the house items make for some amazing photos that the family will treasure, and that is even before the stunning family portraits! The eyes are amazing and the moments captured are so special. Such an inspirational post.

These are awesome. The portraits are great but I particularly love the natural images in the beginning taken in and around their home (gorgeous home!) It gives such a glimpse into their lives, and I am sure they will treasure that in years to come... The pictures of the baba in his little bath - OMG the light!

Bloody hell these are good. I especially love how varied the collection is. Wide angle, b&w, action shots, closeups etc. And you made a kitchen sink with what looks like stool water in look amazing. SO inspirational :)
