I was asked recently to write down some words to describe my 'ideal wedding client' and my ideal wedding to shoot. Now, you'd think that the first words that I'd have come up with would be along the lines of vintage, quirky, bunting, mason jars, unusual, non-traditional, attractive couple, Jimmy Choos, Alice Temperley wedding dress etc etc etc. You know, the weddings that would get onto all those fabulous wedding blogs that we all read and love. Instead, I thought about my favourite images that I've shot at weddings. The images that stood out for me were the ones that really captured the way the couple felt around each other, or the relationship they had with their friends and families, the emotions of the day. So I wrote down the following words: in love, warm, genuine, romantic, open and happy. They may sound like obvious words to describe a wedding, and you'd assume those were a given... I wish that were true.
So, my ideal couple, if you're out there, I'm not concerned where you get married, or how many fun details you have (although I'll happily photograph all of them), I really want to photograph YOU, if you match the words in that short list above. That's why I became a photographer. :)
