A little about me
I was born in in Zambia, to a Yugoslav father and a Scottish mother. We moved to Harare, Zimbabwe, when I was two, and that's where I spent my early years before moving to the UK in 1991. I still miss Africa in my bones, but England has become my home and I can't imagine ever leaving it now. My dad was head of his Photography club at the University of Cape Town in the 60's, and therefore took many photographs of us four children as we were growing up. My mother died unexpectedly when I was nine, and the photographs we have of her are so, so precious now. They are a constant reminder of the value of capturing moments that will never be repeated. I still stare at those images and thank heaven that my Dad took so many of her.
Every wedding day is so unique and so special, because for each and every couple, it's the culmination of months of planning, designing and dreaming. I feel truly honoured to be asked to record this day for them, and for posterity. I take very seriously the trust that couples place in me and I'm super prepared for every eventuality. I think I'm a calm and unobtrusive presence on the day, and I'm often told afterwards that the families barely noticed me moving around, and yet there are many images of moments that they weren't aware of themselves. Getting married is an amazing choice for two people to make and to capture that moment still makes my heart sing every single time (and my eyes well up!).
If I had to categorise my photographic style, I would have to say that it is a mixture of reportage and editorial photography. The images that stand out for me from a wedding day are the ones that really capture the way the couple connect with each other, and the relationship they have with their friends and families, the authentic emotions of the day.
I currently live in Muswell Hill, North London, with my press photographer partner Leon, and our Spongebob Squarepants obsessed four year old son, Maximillian. If you'd like to meet up for a cup of tea and a chat about your day, please send me a message via the contact form above and I look forward to hearing from you!
